Two men were arrested last night after allegedly practicing target shooting from their vehicle southeast of Columbia.Deputies responded around 9:50 p.m. to the 4800 block of Ben Williams Road to a report of shots fired in the area, according to a Boone County Sheriff’s Department news release. While searching the area, deputies found a vehicle matching the description the complainant gave.
Two men in the vehicle told deputies they had been target shooting at debris along the roadway, which is illegal. No injuries were reported.
Christopher A. Baker, 22, who provided the Boone County Jail with a “streets of Columbia” address, was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor unlawful use of a weapon. He remained in the jail this morning with a $500 bond. Chad B. Kocina, 30, of 1517 E. Walnut St., Apt. 102, was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor unlawful use of a weapon, possession of marijuana and illegal possession of a firearm by a felon. He remained in the jail this morning on $5,500 bond.
