Juggalos upset cave in rock – drugs , dead bodies and chaos – end of the gathering

CAVE-IN-ROCK, Ill. — Police said the Coast Guard pulled the body of 24-year-old Jesse Waters of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, out of the water in Union County, Kentucky, in the Sturgeon Island area.

That’s just about 100 feet from the Gathering of the Juggalos. Police have since confirmed Waters disappeared from the gathering Friday night before his body turned up on the Sturgeon Island. Police said they don’t suspect foul play.

Sheriff Lloyd Cullison said the event Waters was attending is bringing more trouble than it’s worth.

The Insane Clown Posse’s Gathering of the Juggalos is over and the cleanup process has begun. The Juggalos are leaving town until next year but Sheriff Lloyd Cullison wishes they would leave and not come back.

“A lot of drug arrests,” Cullison said. “A couple firearms taken off of people. We had one guy that was high on drugs and tried to stab a couple people with some glass.”

Any town would love for 10,000 people to come and visit, right? Well, not Hardin County, Illinois. Cullison said it’s not worth the trouble.

“I’ve been a policeman for 36 years and I’ve never seen anything like this. Just so out of control,” Cullison said.

He said to gain control of any situation is tough because the lack of manpower his department has.

“For a police department to not be able to handle it and do anything about it, just makes you feel helpless.”

Although Illinois State Police did assist his department, it still puts a strain on resources that are sparse.

“Without them guys, I would have been in a lot of trouble,” Cullison said of ISP’s help.

He said the trouble only grows year after year. With a jail that only holds eight and arrests in the hundreds, he said enough is enough.

“It seems like every year it gets a little worst,” he said.

If he had any choice in the matter, he never wants them to return.

“Have it somewhere else,” he said. “We can’t handle it in Hardin County.”

Local 6 tried to talk to event organizers and the owner of Hog-Rock Campgrounds. They said they don’t speak to the media and asked us to leave the property immediatly.

Again, police say they don’t suspect foul play in Waters’ death. They’ll release the official cause of death after an autopsy and toxicology reports.

The Kalispell man who was murdered last week was using medical marijuana to wean himself off prescription drugs, and the suspects in the killing allegedly had been stealing his pills for the last couple of months, a friend of the victim said Monday.

Wesley Collins, 49, was beaten to death sometime last week; his body was discovered by Kalispell Police in a remote wooded area southwest of Kalispell on Saturday.

“I met Wesley about eight to 10 months ago and I’m his medical marijuana provider,” Robert Cates said. “When I first met Wesley he was taking a lot of pills.”

Cates said the suspects who were arrested — Robert Lake, 21, and Jeffrey Nixon, 19 — had been visiting Collins frequently. A third man was initially detained by Kalispell Police, but later was released.

“It had nothing to do with medical marijuana,” Cates said. “They had been ripping him off every day pretty much for two months … the main reasons these kids were there was for his pain medicine.”

Cates said he was helping wean Collins from prescription-drug use for pain associated from injuries he sustained in a car crash.

“He was very vulnerable and he was a very gentle man,” Cates said. “He had a severe brain injury and he had his hip replaced and knee surgeries.”

Cates said he was one of the first people to realize that Collins was missing last week when he didn’t show up for a planned visit at Cates’ house on Tuesday. Police conducted a welfare check for Collins on Wednesday, but he wasn’t at his apartment in northwest Kalispell.

Cates was outside Collins’ apartment on Thursday with investigating officers when neighboring tenants shouted out, warning them that someone was jumping out the apartment’s back window. Cates said he ran one way around the building and officers ran the other way.

Two men were apprehended, and Cates said he believes Lake was one of them.

Kalispell Police Chief Roger Nasset elaborated on the department’s investigation of the alleged crimes Monday.

“It involved marijuana, money and other belongings,” he said, adding that the precise motives for the robbery and murder are still being investigated.

“We have several stories for what the robbery was about,” Nasset said.

The crime has stirred up a defensive reaction from medical-marijuana advocates who don’t believe that marijuana was involved.

Nasset said it is part of the equation.

“In this matter there is no disputing that marijuana was being used at the time of the homicide and that the marijuana being used was medical marijuana,” he said, later adding, “I think it’s unfortunate that this is being turned into a medical-marijuana issue. A human being lost his life, and that’s the important thing here.”

Nasset said the two suspects are believed to be associated with a well-known gang that revolves around the rap metal duo called Insane Clown Posse.

“That is one of the things that has been revealed by our investigation,” he said.

Lake was arrested early last November for allegedly stealing a cell phone from a nurse at Kalispell Regional Medical Center, and he was subsequently charged with robbing an Evergreen casino using a can of pepper spray that he used on an employee and four patrons.

The Flathead County Attorney’s Office said Lake eventually was released on “informal house arrest” and is scheduled to go on trial June 7 for the casino robbery.

Cates said he is deeply troubled by Collins’ murder. “He was a very good friend of mine and a very vulnerable person.”

Cates said he believes prescription drugs are the main drug problem in the Flathead Valley and they are causing other types of crimes.

Neither Lake nor Nixon have yet made their initial court appearances.

NELSON Some other Ohio town will be feeling clown love as the Gathering of the Juggalos, held in Portage Co
past three years, will not return to Nelson Ledges Quarry Park in 2006.
The Gathering made Nelson its home for three years, starting in 2003. However, Quarry Park owner Evan Kelley
Friday that Psychopathic Records, Insane Clown Posse and their fans, the Juggalos, have not been invited back
Rumors about the change began to fly shortly after the 2005 Gathering, when ICPs Violent J said on a
Juggalo Web site that the group was looking to take the 2006 Gathering elsewhere.
More recently, Violent J wrote on http://www.insaneclownposse.com that the 2006 Gathering will be held in a secret,
location near Columbus, Ohio, a move confirmed Friday by attorney Marc Beginin of Detroit, who represented
Psychopathic during the past two gatherings. Beginin had no other official comment.
Kelley said that for three years, the majority of the Juggalos were respectful and friendly, but the mood and actions changed quickly and violently
over time.
The first year was not bad. The second year was questionable, but I thought Well, lets try a third year and see how
And the third year was terrible, just awful, Kelley said, referring to the five-day festival held July 21-25, 2005
Kelley said Psychopathic Records broke some of the rules set down for the 2005 event, including blasting music long into the night.
Neighbors were calling, livid at four in the morning regarding loud music, he said. I was really upset with that, it was
flagrant disrespect to the community and myself. I voiced my opinion that I really didnt want it back, so they looked
elsewhere.
Drugs, alcohol, nudity, profanity and trash also became serious problems, he said.
But the bad side of this group really hurt the few good kids.
The 2005 Gathering of the Juggalos was the sixth such event, and the fourth in Ohio. Previous gatherings were h
Peoria, Ill., where Juggalos clashed with police, and Toledo, where a similar situation unfolded. For three years,
County spent thousands of dollars and hundreds of man-hours corralling the Juggalos inside Quarry Park. In 2005 the promoters sued Psychopathic to recoup police overtime costs.

Kelley, who said the park now will focus more on swimming and camping, said he expects a mixed reaction to the Juggalos departure.
The neighbors will be happy, he said.
It was good and bad, but after the third year it turned a little sour.
We used it (the Gathering) as an opportunity to really better this place, Kelley said. Now its time to cut those guys.
